Reader Question About Stains

Tuesday April 5, 2005
Katherine wrote in to say that her young daughter managed to stain her pants during some fun at an amusement park. Katherine's dilemna...

"Is there any way to get the stain out after it has been in the dryer?" Stain removal after a stain has been dried in the dryer is difficult and often not very likely. Dryers, irons, and sometimes even hot water can set stains into clothing permanently. Before you relegate the pants to the play clothes section of your daughter's wardbrobe, try pretreating and soaking the stain again. This time allow the pants to dry in the sun. The sun is a natural stain remover. Lemon juice along with the sun will also bleach out unwanted stains. Be careful though, because both the sun and lemon juice can bleach the color out of printed and colored clothing.
