The Hoover Savvy

Sunday June 26, 2005
One of the most common vacuum cleaner questions that readers ask about is whether a bagged or a bagless vacuum cleaner is a better option for their family. As one of the first choices we must make about a new vacuum cleaner, this one can leave us scrambling to decide. The Hoover Savvy, however, gives you the luxury of not having to choose. This in addition to its other features, makes the Hoover Savvy a smart vacuum cleaner to check out.

This is the worst vacuum I’ve ever touched. I used to buy those $65 dirt devil vacuums, and they would last me a good year at least. This monstrosity breaks/clogs/some new weird malfunction every time I use it. I don’t have a dog with long hair, I don’t vacuum gravel roads. I have two 5×7 area rugs, short pile mind you, and this thing craps-out and then blows dust all over. It actually makes them MORE dirty, no joke. I’ve taken it apart before and cleaned it out. I’ve had technicians do the same, and more. And it breaks still. $200 + repairs every three months? No thank you. I’ll stick with my cheapo dirt devils from walmart. At least when they break, I’m not shocked. Oh and reviews like this one are ALL over the internet for this vacuum. I just didn’t see one here so I thought I would post.

Always liked hoover products, until i had to replace belt on our savvy. Have to practically disassemble vacuum to replace belt. You shouldn”t have to take a vacuum in to service, just to replace a belt.
If your not mechanically inclined, and you have to take it in to replace belt, cost of belt and labor to install belt, in some cases it might cost less to buy new vacuum at todays labor costs.

“Fer’git about it” I’ve had two savvy’s and it time to throw them over the Hoover Dam !! no joke. don’t really use it much but never lasted more than a year. Both short circuited and lights burned out, electical burn smell, and brushes stopped functioning. Hoover replaced the first on last June 08, now it’s time fer’ them to replace this one. All I can say is “fer’git about it!!”!!

Our Savvy brush roller quit working for the 2nd time. The 1st time I took it to the authorized warranty center and they said they would have to get an ok from Hoover to repair it under warranty and it would take at least 10 days for the ok. We couldn’t wait 10 days plus the repair place was 40 miles from our house. So I paid to have it repaired. NOW, the brush roller quit again. It had caught a fringe on our rug and I shut it off within one second but now the roller won’t work again. Not happy with this Savvy.

Expensive piece of junk–rollerisn’t wirking so I’ll try again to take the monster apart to fix it. Isn’t there a lemon law for vacuums?
