Mr. Clean AutoDry Review

Sunday May 21, 2006
Mr. Clean AutoDry With nice weather here for awhile I decided to try my hand at washing our van in the driveway. The kids wanted to help, and I wanted to try the new Mr. Clean AutoDry Professional Series car wash kit. There I was with a car wash kit that promised ease and convenience, four eager, although young, helpers, and no idea how it would all turn out.

My husband purchased the Mr. Clea Auto Dry kit when we moved into our house because we have been getting spots on our cars due to the well water we have.

Supposedly, you can use the filter and let it air dry and you’ll get a shiny spot free car. Well, we’ve been using the product as per the directions and we have still been getting spots. We have to wipe the car with a shamy and a towel and hope that the spots come off.

Definately not a product to waste your time or money on !

I got this system, and use it to clean our Mitsubishi Eclipse. I was never really one to wash the car, always opted for the carwash. Never again. I love what this does to the car!

This product is nothinjg more than a gimmeck.
It is a waste of money & it doesnt do what it says it does.
Save your self time & money. Go to a pro car wash or do it yourself.

This product is worth a try, if it works with your water, you’ll never regret it! Mine works everytime perfectly and I am not one to love washing my car.

Sir/Madam – I’m one that’s always hard to please returning stuff to stores that don’t perform but the Mr Clean Auto Dry performed even better than advertised and will work if you follow instructions. I was looking for flaws so I could return it as I was very skeptical at first. It’s pricey for the soap and filters. Found it heavy at first and the handle should be a rubber grip so as not to slip like the more expensive Pro Series. However I’m not sure if it did not strip off some wax in the process. I’m keeping this great unit. 5 out of 5 Stars for this one!

Allow me to do the research for THEM! If you water hardness is 120ppm, you will get six (6) spotfree rinses per cartridge. If your water hardness is 250ppm you will get three (3) spotfree rinses. I really wonder what city you could get “up to 10 uses” like that packaging says. You do the money math. I still feel like consumer reports is not doing enough with new products. Thus you get to the be the guinea pig and do the research.

I love this item. Yeah, it’s pricey, and yeah, I’m on my second one after dropping the first one too many times on the pavement, and yeah, the refills are hard to find and I wish they had a 5 gallon soap refill… But it is so convenient, no need for a bucket, no need to wipe off afterwards, meaning less friction on the paint of my Carrera, and no running back and forth to the bucket to reload soap on the mitt. It doesn’t exactly ‘autodry’, but what water remains does dry spotless. As somebody said, a lighter, more streamlined version might be nice too. I use the filters until they are foul-looking and it still works pretty well - tear the outer wrapper off the filter to better see what it really looks like and gauge how used up it is.
