Why are sponges different colors? Is a thicker sponge better?  What works best on glassware, dishes, and utensils?  What type of sponge do you need for your cleaning job?

I have also encountered an abrasive sponge that is anti-bacterial. It costs much higher than the regular abrasive sponge but it lasts longer and dries faster.
