We've been working hard the last few weeks. Now we are up to week 4 in our 10 week holiday plan and we're focusing on the dining areas of our homes. With company coming to my house this year, I especially need the dining area to be clean and clutter free. Besides holiday meals, our dining area gets used for crafts, projects and more. Taking a little time to get it ready for the holidays will really pay off this year.

I just read your articles on handwashing dishes that were a part of this series.
Here’s my tip: Before donning rubber gloves (and using the hottest water possible), put lotion on your hands. The heat helps your skin to absorb the lotion. My hands are soft as silk now!
One way that I keep things off my dining table during the holidays is by keeping a holiday themed table cloth or runner on it with a nice center piece. That way I feel less inclined to dump things on it during the day or week. But now I have to find out how to keep it clutter free during the rest of the year…
I agree with the lotion part before putting rubber gloves on! Once I discovered that I didn’t have the dried cracking problem on my fingers like I did before- – good tip!
About the dining table…we have the same problem. It’s a multipurpose table and it drives me crazy. I have noticed that when I do have a lovely center piece displayed I tend to at least keep the table neat and not so crowded with unnecessary things (or at least clean up as soon as I’m done with my paper and glue).
