For the Visual Learners: How To Clean a Microwave

Monday April 7, 2008
I used to think the microwave oven was a magic box. In goes something raw, cold, or inedible, and out comes a delicious feast for the senses. Okay, so for realists, maybe in goes frozen hamburger, and out comes defrosted hamburger, but you get the idea. This last week when I went to pop a bag of popcorn for a snack, I was grateful that the microwave could do in 3.2 minutes what the stovetop used to do in 15-20. Until I opened up the microwave. Something had exploded and seeped all over the edges of the microwave. But I took it as an opportunity...an opportunity to show just how simple cleaning out a disgusting microwave can be. The before and after pics left even me amazed. 6 minutes later, and I was ready to pop my popcorn.
