Does Having Hard Water Require the Use Of More Dish Washing Liquid?

By Sarah Aguirre, About.com

Question: Does Having Hard Water Require the Use Of More Dish Washing Liquid?

Answer: Because it is a detergent and not a soap, dish washing liquid is not as affected by hardness of water as other cleansers in your home may be. Some people with hard water do feel that there is a need to add a little bit more dish liquid to maintain the sudsy water needed to properly clean dishes. Don't be tempted to add a lot of extra, though. Extra detergent can often make washing and rinsing the dishes more difficult.
