By

Week 5 Focus:

Bathrooms and Guest Rooms For week 5 we're focusing on bathrooms and guest rooms as our main cleaning and organizing focus for the week. Although these areas are some of the more hidden ones in our homes, they are an important area to have clean and organized.Learn about cleaning and organizing our bathrooms and guest rooms as we anticipate a wonderful holiday season.

Week 5 Tasks:

Cleaning:
Maintain cleanliness with a 15 Minute Cleanup for each room in your home.
Do intense cleaning in your bathrooms with an intense bathroom cleanup.

Organizing:
Pay special attention to organizing your bathrooms and guest rooms to get ready for the holiday season. Make it easy on yourself to entertain in these rooms by removing clutter now.
Clean out your medicine cabinets.
Clean clutter from any rooms that will be used for guests.

Decorating:
Begin finalizing your plans for Christmas decorating in your holiday organizing notebook.
Finish decorating touches for Thanksgiving.

Cooking:
Finalize your Thanksgiving menu.
Buy any meal items. Start defrosting a turkey if necessary. Enjoy your Thanksgiving celebrations.

Scheduling:
Take a moment to update or create a master family calendar. Add in all dates from school, work, church, sports, and activity calendars. Make sure to keep a copy posted in your home and a copy with you at all times. November and December dates fill up quickly and you don't want to double book your family.
If you haven't already, schedule a maintenance check-up for any furnaces and fireplaces in your home.

Buying:
Go over your budget before spending money. Update the budget as needed.
Add to a list of presents that need to be purchased. Try to purchase 1/7 of the gifts on your list this week. This week, you may want to finish any items that need to be purchased online or through a catalog. If you've been following along, you'll have at least 1/2 of your gifts purchased after this week. If you're behind, you can catch up next week at the after Thanksgiving sales this week.
To make it easier on you, set up a gift wrap station in your home. If you have the space you can make it a whole section of a room. If space is more limited, consider a portable wrapping storage container that can be brought out when needed.
Don't forget to work on any handmade gifts during the week. By the end of the week, your goal should be to have 3/5 of your handmade gifts finished.
Add to a list of decorating supplies that need to be purchased. Buy any items you can find off of your list at the sales.
Begin to make lists of "homemade gifts" that will be needed and gather supplies.
Include all of your lists in your holiday organizing notebook so that you can add to them or modify them as needed.
You bought your holiday cards last week, by the end of this week try to have addressed all envelopes and filled out 2/3 of the cards. This is a great activity to do while you watch your favorite holiday movies and relax from the Thanksgiving rush.
