How To Remove Burn Stains From Furniture

By , About.com Guide

You've invested in beautiful wood furniture. But what do you do when a burn stain shows up on your gorgeous furniture? In a few easy steps you can repair and disguise burn marks on furniture.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 25 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Remove warped wood.

If any of the wood has warped or bubbled up above the true surface of the wood, you can use a sharp knife to scrape the excess wood away.

  2. Sand the wood.

Using extra-fine sandpaper, go over the wood stain. Use your sandpaper working with the grain of the wood.

  3. Use wood filler.

If the burned area has a deep gouge, you'll need to use wood filler to repair the dented area and bring it up to the same surface as the wood. Follow the directions on the wood filler.

  4. Use a furniture repair marker.

Furniture repair markers and crayons can be matched to a piece of furniture's original finish.
