Unplug the Microwave's Electrical Cord
Before cleaning, unplug the microwave.

Before you begin cleaning a microwave oven, unplug the power cord. Now is a great time to inspect the cord for any damage or dirt. A cord that is damaged can be dangerous. If the cord is in good condition, give it a quick wipe down to remove dust and dirt.
