Stain Removal for Mayonnaise

By Sarah Aguirre, About.com

Mayonnaise finds its way into many recipes, making it a likely candidate to stain our clothing. With its combination of eggs and oil, it requires several steps to make sure a greasy remnant of the stain won't be left after washing.

Stain Removal Step 1.

Remove as much excess mayo as possible with a dull knife or spoon.

Stain Removal Step 2.

Apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray and let stand for several minutes to allow it to go completely through the fabric.

Stain Removal Step 3.

Use liquid detergent to rub through the stained fabric.

Stain Removal Step 4.

Allow the garment to sit for 3-5 minutes.

Stain Removal Step 5.

Wash in the hottest water safe for the fabric. Check clothing tags to determine what temperature the clothing can be washed in.
