Fabric Softeners

By Sarah Aguirre, About.com

Definition: Fabric softeners come in two different forms and are designed to reduce wrinkling, drying times, and static cling. Fabric softeners also make clothing fluffy and soft.

Dryer sheets are used in the drying cycle with your clothing.

Liquid fabric softeners are added to the final rinse of a washing cycle.

Fabric softeners can reduce flame retardance on flame retardant clothing, absorbency on cotton towels, and the performance of active wear.
