Definition: Flat mops are defined by the shape of the mop head. With a flat mop head, these mops can cover a uniform surface area. Flat mops can be dry or wet models.
Flat mops usually have some kind of a removable cleaning pad. Sometimes this cleaning pad is disposable. Other times the cleaning pad can be washed and reused.
Some models of flat mops are battery powered with a trigger so that cleaning solution is sprayed directly from the mop onto the floor. There are even flat style steam mops. Flat mops are frequently used as quick mopping tools for wet cleaning, or for dry dust mopping.
Examples:
Swiffer WetJet and Clorox ReadyMop are two common examples.
