For oily medicine stains, begin by removing as much of the excess stain as possible. Try using a spoon to remove the ointment without damaging the fabric.
To absorb as much of the oil as possible, sprinkle baking soda or cornstarch onto the stain and let it stand for at least 10 minutes. Brush off the baking soda after it has absorbed the ointment.
Rub dishwashing liquid into the stained area with a clean cloth. Let it stand for 3 minutes.
Soak the stained area in hot water and dishwashing liquid for 30 minutes before rinsing the back of the stain with hot water. Try to remove any ointment that has been loosened.
If the stain remains, apply baking soda to the stained area again for 3 minutes before brushing off.
Apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray to the crayon stain. Let sit for 3-5 minutes.
Wash in the hottest water that the fabric can safely tolerate.
