Mud Stain Removal

Removing Mud Stains From Clothing

By Sarah Aguirre, About.com

Stain Removal Step 1.

Let the mud dry thoroughly. Do not attempt to wipe off the mud. It will only smear the stain onto more of the clothing.

Stain Removal Step 2.

Shake or vacuum off the mud stained area.

Stain Removal Step 3.

Rub liquid detergent into the stain and allow to soak for 15 minutes or until the stain no longer remains. Lightly rub the stained area between your fingers every 3-5 minutes to help loosen the stained area.

Stain Removal Step 4.

If traces of the mud stain remain, apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray and let stand for 5 minutes.

Stain Removal Step 5.

Wash with liquid laundry detergent.

Stain Removal Step 6.

If stain still remains, repeat steps 3-5.
