Are Self-Propelled Vacuum Cleaners Easier to Clean With?

By Sarah Aguirre, About.com

Question: Are Self-Propelled Vacuum Cleaners Easier to Clean With?
Answer: Self-propelled vacuum cleaners are designed with a transmission that powers forward and reverse movements more easily. Self-propelled vacuum cleaners may be easier to push, but their major drawback is added weight. The self-propelled mechanism makes the cleaners more difficult to lift and carry. They may be easy to push when they are running, but many models are brutes to carry up the stairs or even to push into a closet for storage.
